Born and raised in Hokkaido, Toshihiro Mori continued to take pictures of the ruins while working from 1996 to 2011 alone with a camera as if he was possessed by something, following the footsteps of the predecessors who pioneered Hokkaido from the early Meiji era, to the shores of the ice and remote mountains.
The works contained in this book are just a part of the enormous amount of records that have been filmed by carefully collecting industrial remains that have rarely been exposed to the public. The ruins exposed to the passage of time melt into the sea, mountains, rivers, and grasslands, and are somehow nostalgic, painful, and even like ancient ruins.
