Festa Nation Zipangu（フェスタネーションジパング）とは

それぞれの言葉を調べると

Festa（フェスタ）　祭り。祝祭。祭祀（さいし）。

Nation（ネーション）　〔ある政府に属する〕国民。〔主権を持つ〕国家。〔歴史や文化を共有する〕民族。

Zipangu（ジパング）　マルコ・ポーロの東方見聞録に書かれた日本の名前。

となり、日本語では「祭りの国 日本」となります。

Festa Nation Zipangu（フェスタネーションジパング）を運営している株式会社クムランは２０１１年に「Matsuri-Japan」（マツリジャパン）という日本各地の３０のお祭りの情報を世界に発信しようと英語版のiPhoneアプリケーションを発売しましたが、とても残念なことに、そのアプリケーションを作成した会社の都合により数か月で頒布できなくなりました。

その時以来、別の何らかの方法で日本のお祭りの情報を発信したいと思って年月を過ごして来ましたが、会社を取り巻く仕事の状況やＩＴ業界の変化の激しさになかなか取り組むことができませんでした。近年になり仕事も落ち着き、優秀な人材との出会いもあり、ようやくこの新しいサイトを立ち上げる運びとなりました。

当初名前は１０年前と同じ「Matsuri-Japan」（マツリジャパン）にしようと思いましたが、検索しましたところ、同様の使用目的ですでに商標登録されていました（１０年前は登録されていませんでした）。それでその名前は使えませんので、スタッフ一同知恵をしぼり、新しい名前を考えました。それがFesta Nation Zipangu（フェスタネーションジパング）です。今ではこれがとても気に入っています。

このサイトのお祭りの写真は古田康倫氏が撮影したものです。もう１０年以上前になりますが、彼との出会いがなければここまで来られませんでした。とても感謝しています。また当社の4名のスタッフとの出会いもなければこのサイトを作り上げることはできませんでした。私がぼんやりと思い描いていたイメージを予想以上に素敵な形に実現してくれました。とても感謝しています。

What is “Festa Nation Zipangu”?

Qumuran Co., Ltd., which operates “Festa Nation Zipangu”, launched an English version of the iPhone application called "Matsuri-Japan",which means festivals in Japan, in 2011 to disseminate information to the world on 30 festivals in various parts of Japan. But unfortunately, it couldn't be distributed in a few months due to the company that created the application.

Since that time, I have spent some years hoping to disseminate information on Japanese festivals in some other way, but I have been unable to tackle with it because of the work situation surrounding the company and the drastic changes in the IT industry. In recent years, my work has settled down and I have met some excellent staff members, so I finally decided to launch this new site.

Initially, I wanted to use the same name as 10 years ago, "Matsuri-Japan", but when I searched for it, it was already registered as a trademark for the same purpose (it wasn’t registered 10 years ago). That's why I can't use that name, so we squeezed our wisdom and came up with a new name. That is “Festa Nation Zipangu”. I’m content with this name very much now.

The photos of the festival on this site were taken by Mr. Yasutomo Furuta. It's been over 10 years ago, but I couldn't have come this far without meeting him. I appreciate it very much. Also, this site couldn't be created without meeting our four staff members. The image that I had vaguely envisioned was realized in a more wonderful form than I expected. I feel grateful for them.
